With a career spanning over 30 years, Matt has performed on some of the world\u2019s most prestigious stages, collaborated with various musicians, and produced award-winning recordings. He\u2019s been praised by the New York Times as a \u201cferociously talented cellist\u201d and by The New Yorker as a \u201cremarkable virtuoso.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a mentor, Matt has inspired a new generation of cellists at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University and is now the first-ever John Cage Fellow at The New School\u2019s Mannes School of Music. He brings fresh perspectives to classic repertoire and creates innovative projects, such as THE PRIMAVERA PROJECT<\/a>  is an ongoing series of 81 commissions for cello, celebrating a rich tapestry of distinct and diverse compositional voices. A collaboration between GRAMMY-nominated cellist Matt Haimovitz, contemporary painter Charline von Heyl and director Jeffrianne Young, each composer is asked to respond to two paintings, Sandro Botticelli\u2019s Primavera <\/em>(c.1480) and Charline von Heyl\u2019s Primavera 2020.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
