In the Shadows (2023)

PRIMAVERA V

from the composer

When I was first introduced to Charline von Heyl’s Primavera 2020, I was struck by the sense of movement that the work projected. Although the foreground images immediately grab one’s attention – much like a melody stands out in a piece of music – to me it is the background of the piece that gives the work its sense of motion, similar to a musical accompaniment texture. In the Shadows is my interpretation of this aspect of the work – the energy of the movement created by the background.
